    Hotel Skogar

The regions highlight is perhaps the majestic Skogarfoss waterfall, about 5 minutes walk away. The waterfall, 60 meters in height, is famous for its beauty (there is during sunny weather always a rainbow visible “inside” the waterfall) and there is a legend saying that a chest of gold is buried somewhere beneath it. The river also teams with salmon, trout and char, making it one of the better rivers to fish in all of Iceland today.

    Serenity, luxury and relaxation
Hiking up to the top of the Skogarfoss waterfalls and the stunning series of falls and rapids beyond is a favourite and a must do for all fit travellers. Longer hikes are also available to Thorsmörk and Landmannalaugar. Visiting the Myrdalsjökull glacier and there taking snowmobile tours, dog sleighing, super jeep tours or ice climbing is a must. As is taking trips to the stunning Dyrholaey cliffs and black beaches of Vik where birdlife is a major attraction. Special trips with boats under the rock arches by Dyrholaey are also available. Horse riding and day-trips to Seljalandsfoss & Thorsmörk, Landmannalaugar, The Glacier Lagoon Jökularslón, Skaftafell National Park & Vatnajökull and the Westman Islands are all popular excursions as well. And one should of course not forget the famous and well frequented Folk Museum in Skogar – which should not be missed. The wool center in Vik is also well worth a visit.

Romantic getaway for white weddings, honeymooners and anniversaries
Weddings have been very popular at Hotel Skogar, especially holding a civil ceremony right below the Skogarfoss waterfall. There is also a small church in the immediate vicinity. For the unique wedding of a lifetime - Contact
